So, let’s talk about “The Story of the Three Little Pigs” by Brooke, L. Leslie. You probably remember the story from your childhood: three little pigs build houses, a wolf blows them down, and only the one who built his house with bricks survives. But did you know that there’s more to this story than meets the eye?

First of all, the book teaches us about the importance of preparation and hard work. The first two pigs build houses out of straw and sticks, respectively, which are clearly insufficient to withstand the big bad wolf’s huffing and puffing. But the third pig takes his time and builds a house out of bricks, which is strong enough to survive the wolf’s assault. In other words, he’s prepared for anything.

Secondly, the book teaches us about the power of determination and grit. The third pig doesn’t just throw up his hands when the wolf comes knocking; he stands his ground and fights back. He uses his wits and his strength to outsmart the wolf and protect his home. He’s not afraid of a challenge.

Now, you might be wondering what all of this has to do with Crossfit. Well, think about it: when we lift weights or do a WOD, we’re preparing ourselves for whatever life throws at us. We’re building our physical and mental strength so that we can be ready for anything. And when we push ourselves to keep going, even when it hurts or we want to give up, we’re demonstrating our determination and grit.

So, why should you read “The Story of the Three Little Pigs” today? Because it’s a reminder that no matter how small or insignificant we may feel, we have the power to overcome obstacles and persevere. And because it’s a testament to the importance of hard work and preparation, both in building a strong foundation for ourselves and in accomplishing our goals.
